Ella

“Come on, Ella,” Tanniv’s voice gently prods me from sleep. I’m so comfortable and warm that I grumble and snuggle further into the human heater in front of me. Asra’s rumbling laugh followed my action and Tanniv let out a heavy sigh. “While we’d love nothing more than to keep you on this boat and fuck you senseless for days on end, omega, you have some things to handle today and it’s already ten. You have one hour to get ready and get to the Enchanted Mug to meet Birdie.”

I groaned at the reminder. No part of me wanted to handle the shitstorm that was brewing on the horizon. The thought of seeing Spencer and Hunter again had me cringing. My memories were no longer hazy and I made an ass out of myself. Some mate introduction that was.

“You can brood later,” Asra prompted, getting out of the bed and taking the blankets with him. I let out an exaggerated sigh but followed his lead.

It took every bit of time we had to get all three of us dressed and walk across town. The fact it was at the Enchanted Mug was the only reason I got out of bed. Because dealing with my new mates and magic and the mayor and an unfamiliar witch… didn’t sound that enticing. I’d take every advantage I could get and that meant coffee, a lot of it.

I noticed the town was much quieter than what I was used to and then I remembered one of the brothers mentioning yesterday that the tourists all left yesterday. They didn’t explain why everyone was leaving on the same day, that just seemed weird to me. Could it be magic related? My thoughts snapped back to the present when Tanniv opened the cafe door and motioned me inside. Shooting him a tight smile I rushed past him, ignoring the group of people in the back who watched me closely, to approach Drystan at the counter.

“What would you like today, Ella?” Drystan’s eyes were concerned as he studied me, though I caught a hint of what looked like jealousy as his gaze flicked to my two alphas as they left me to order my drink.

“Surprise me?” I asked, giving him a wobbly smile, my nerves getting the better of me. “I’m sorry for yesterday. There was— There was a lot going on in my head. But I shouldn’t have snapped at you.”

Drystan looked shocked, completely fucking speechless as he stared at me. When I bit my lip unsure if he’d forgive me or not, he smiled gently and held up a finger for me to wait. He moved around the small space gracefully and efficiently, creating a coffee with an extra shot of espresso. Maybe he can read minds because that’s exactly what I need for this meeting I won’t be able to ignore for much longer.

“Here.” He handed over the oversized mug, his hands pressing mine to the hot cup, joking lightly that he wanted to make sure I didn’t drop or crush it.
